"No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the Continent, a part of the main; if a Clod be washed away by the Sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a Promontory were, as well as if a Manor of thy friends or of thine own were; any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in Mankind; And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; It tolls for thee."

Weary Fate
While the sounds of the city thrum and pulse through my head, I gather up the shards of my dignity, and stumble to another hole, another meal, another little bag of joyless bliss.

Wow. It really goes with your theme too.
First, welcome to 3WW, glad to have you, and hope you'll find this a place to gain inspiration.
And the piece, such grit and beauty in such a small space. Very nicely done.
A whole life summed up in just a few words. Great post.
Welcome to 3WW! Excellently done, poignant and powerful. You've given me a lump in my throat.
Phew, nicely done, she really does look world weary!
Can't believe this is your fist time here! That was really thought-provoking.
The emptiness and grief of such a life. Well done.
oh, how sad but that's the reality, the ending with "joyless bliss" just adds to the devastation of the whole piece
Am just a week ahead of you Carina...:) Let's welcome each other...:)
I was touched by your lines...how many like him/her (bag lady) are seen on streets with just a hand-to-mouth existence?
Stay at 3WW for good! As I would, too!

Very humbling piece, I thought the part: "another little bag of joyless bliss" really hit it home.
Welcome to 3ww!
the weariness just drips from this piece. welcome to 3ww.
Terrific post!
Carina, you have captured the
despair remarkably so. So much
that this reader feels to have
gained an insight into this
human being. Thank you.
